You can create reminders for each of your cars on GloveBox. To manage reminders for a car, tap the car on the home screen followed by the "Reminders" button. Reminders are useful to prompt you to renew things like breakdown cover, MOT or insurance. You can also create reminders for servicing based on a vehicle's mileage.
Only a car's owner can add and remove reminders, other drivers can only see a list of the reminders that have been added to each car. Each reminder will be sent by email shortly before it's due. When you create the reminder you can choose whether it will be sent only to you (the car's owner) or to all of the drivers assigned to that car. Reminder emails will be sent for a reminder until it's deleted, or you can switch off all reminder emails.
Creating a reminder
When you add a reminder you need to give it a useful description, which will be included in the email you receive when the reminder is due. You can select whether the reminder is sent to all drivers assigned to the car, or just you (the owner). Only the car's owner can add and delete reminders for the car, but all drivers can see the list of reminders in the GloveBox app.
Each reminder can be one of three types:
- Time interval: Enter a time interval to get a regular email reminder. Useful for fixed renewal reminders such as breakdown cover, MOT, road tax and insurance.
- Odometer: Enter an odometer interval to get an email reminder. For example, a service reminder every 10,000 miles.
- Combined: Enter both a time interval and an odometer interval. You'll receive a reminder for whichever interval elapses first. For example, some vehicles need a service every 15,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first.
Time interval reminders
Time interval reminders allow you to choose what frequency you want the reminder to be sent (for example, every year). You'll also need to choose the date the first reminder is due. You'll receive an email shortly before this date, and it'll repeat at the interval you've selected until the reminder is deleted from GloveBox.
Odometer reminders allow you to choose what frequency you want the reminder to be sent (for example, every 10,000 miles). You'll also need to choose the mileage at which the first reminder is due. You'll receive an email shortly before the odometer reaches this amount - (for example, when you log a fuel entry or an expense at 9,860). The reminder will be repeated at the interval you've selected until it's deleted from GloveBox.
Combined reminders allow you to enter the criteria for both the time interval and odometer reminders above. You'll receive an email shortly before the date or odometer interval is reached, whichever comes first. The reminder will repeat until it's is deleted from GloveBox.
Switching off reminder emails
Switching off reminders for all cars:
Go to "Settings" > "Reminders" and set "Send reminders" to "No". If and when you switch them back on reminders will start working again but you may have missed reminders if they were due while you had the emails switched off.
Switching off a reminders for a specific car:
If you no longer want to receive reminders for a specific car and you're the car's owner you can just delete the reminders for that car.
If you no longer want to receive reminders for a car and you're not the owner you either need to remove the car or contact the owner. The owner will either remove you from the car, delete the reminder or recreate it with "Send to all drivers" set to "No".
